One of the most popular religious places among the four chota Char Dham pilgrimage areas, Gangotri, situated in Uttarkashi, is closely associated with Goddess Ganga, the river that we all know as the Ganges. The history of Gangotri dates back to centuries when Goddess Ganga transformed herself into a river to dissolve the sins of King Bhagirath’s forefathers, following his penance. Gangotri may be a popular pilgrim place in India, which stands at an altitude of 3042m and emits a highly pious aura. Religious rituals are fully swing within the Gangotri temple with the Arti ceremony performed by the pujaris of the Semwal family.
The river Ganga originates from the Gangotri glacier and is understood as Bhagirathi. The name Ganga picks up afterward after the river passes Devaprayag and merges into the river Alaknanda.
The striking presence of the snow-clad mountains within the vicinity and therefore the pure crystal clear water of the Ganges flowing around increase the sanctity of the place. Vegan food dominates the culture and is out there within the local food joints or dhabas. Non-veg is not allowed in this area.
Gangotri Temple:-
Gangotri is the highest temple of Goddess Ganga and one among the four dhams of Uttarakhand state. Gangotri is situated at an altitude of three,048mts above water level. Gangotri offers scenic splendors of rugged terrains, gushing water of Bhagirathi River and snow-clad peaks. The place holds great importance amongst Hindus. Gangotri remains opened from May and obtain closed on the day of Diwali festival

Day 1: (At 05:00 Hrs) Haridwar -Uttarkashi (190 kms/7 hr) HT :1158 MTS.
Drive to Uttarkashi. Visit Vishwanath Temple & Others. Check in Hotel. Rest day at leisure. Night Halt.
Uttarkashi - Uttarkashi is a small and beautiful town, situated between two rivers; Varuna and Ashi, whose water flow into the Bhagirathi from either side of the town. Elevated, at a height of 1588 meters, this little town is very similar to Kashi and Varanasi, in that it has the same kind of temples and ghats and likewise, a north or 'uttar' facing river.
Day 02: Uttarkashi – Ganganani- Gangotri – Harsil – Uttarkashi (120Kms / 05 hrs) round trip
With packed breakfast & post Tea/ Coffee leave for Gangotri early in the morning. Offering prayers & pooja darshan, later drive back to Uttarkashi , en route visit Gangnani & Harsil. Overnight stay at Uttarkashi.
Day 03: Uttarkashi – Rudar paryag- (220 Kms/ 8-9 hr)
Leave very early in the morning with packed breakfast for almost day long drive to Rudarparyag On your drive you would pass through Ganga giving way to Tehri Dam (The Hydro Electric Project). Overnight stay in the hotel Rudarparyag
Day 04: Rudarparyag- Badrinath (165 kms / 05-06 hrs)
Morning after breakfast proceed to Badrinath via Joshimath, (Narsimha Temple, Sankaracharaya Math) Badrinath. Evening Darshan & Pooja at Badrinath temple. Overnight stay at Badrinath.
Day 05: Badrinath – Joshimath - Rudraprayag - (165 kms/06hr)
Early morning, pilgrims after having a bath in the Taptkund have the Darshan of Badrivishal. Brahamakapal is significant for Pinddan Shraddh of ancestors (Pitrus). There are other interesting sightseeing spot like Mana, Vyas Gufa, Maatamoorti, Charanpaduka, Bhimkund and the Mukh of the Saraswati River. Just within the three kms of Badrinathjee. Joshimath is situated on the slopes above the confluence of the rivers Alaknanda and Dhauliganga. Of the four Maths established by Adi Shankaracharya, Joshimath is the winter seat of Badrinath.
Day 06: Rudraprayag- Devprayag –Rishikesh-Haridwar –(140 kms/05hr)
After breakfast drive to Haridwar en-route visit Deoprayag , Rishikesh (Ram Jhula & Laxman Jhula, Gita Mandir).After sightseeing proceed to Haridwar.
